Jacob Nielsen sang guru usability, usability adalah ‘ dapatkah seorang user menemukan cara untuk menggunakan website tersebut dengan efektif ( doing things right ). Masih menurut Jacob, usability memiliki 5 karakteristik :

• Mudah untuk dipelajari;
• Efisien untuk digunakan;
• Mudah untuk diingat;
• Tingkat frekuensi kesalahan;
• Tingkat kepuasan pemakai;

Karakteristik yang telah ditentukan oleh Jacob Nielsen akan sangat sulit kita terapkan 100%, apalagi kalau sudah menyangkut kepentingan klien web, tetapi paling tidak bisa menjadi acuan yang membantu kita untuk merancang layout suatu website, agar website tersebut :

• Mudah dipelajari penggunaannya oleh pengunjung;
• Mudah diingat dan digunakan navigasinya oleh pengunjung;
• Dapat digunakan secara efisien;
• Memperkecil tingkat kesalahan pemakaian oleh pengunjung dalam mengoperasionalkan web;
• Memuaskan pengunjung hingga akhirnya tertarik untuk kembali lagi;

2. Sistem navigasi

Navigasi yang mudah dipahami oleh pengunjung secara keseluruhan.

3. Graphic Design

Pemilihan grafis, layout, warna, bentuk maupun typografi yang menarik visual pengunjung untuk menjelajahi website.

4. Content

Isi/konten yang bermanfaat ( ‘Content is king , but without good design , Content is a naked king’ ), kecuali website tersebut adalah website eksperimental/show off.

5. Kompatibilitas

Waktu panggil (loading time), walaupun ada banyak faktor yang akan mempengaruhi waktu panggil (loading time) website yang akan kita buka, diantaranya: besar bandwith/koneksi pengakses, kondisi webserver pada saat diakses, aplikasi yang digunakan dalam membangun website,dsb. Anda memiliki waktu 8 detik pertama untuk meyakinkan pengunjung untuk meneruskan menjelajahi website anda atau menutup browser dan pergi ke website lain. Oleh karena itu, letakkan ‘sesuatu’ di 8 detik pertama tersebut yang bisa menarik perhatian pengunjung.
Hint: ukuran sebuah halaman web html dengan image di dalamnya (tanpa flash) adalah kurang lebih 50-60 kb.

7. Functionality

Ini akan melibatkan programmer dengan script-scriptnya, misal PHP,ASP,Java,CGI dsb, untuk menciptakan sebuah website yang dinamis, interaktif dan ‘hidup’ yang bisa mengajak pengunjung berkomunikasi secara langsung. Seberapa baik sebuah website bekerja dari aspek teknologikal nya.

Alangkah bagusnya kalau login halaman wordpress kita berisi banner tulisan nama domain kita atau tulisan yang menarik lainnya dengan kreasi kita sendiri.

Mari kita mencoba dengan bebetapa tips berikut…

Ada beberapa cara untuk membuat halaman login wordpress kita tampil beda.

Cara Pertama, cara berikut mudah dilakukan dan bisa dibilang kuno. Yaitu dengan mengubah mengganti atau mengedit gambar logo-login.gif di folder wp-admin/images
misal diedit menjadi seperti berikut:

Cara Kedua, yaitu dengan menggunakan plugin bm-custom-login. Cara ini paling simple dan mudah dilakukan. Download saja plugin wordpress tersebut di kerrywebster.com
kemudian silahkan edit file psd menggunakan photoshop. Setelah diedit kemudian simpan file tersebut di folder images yg disediakan dg nama file login-bkg-tile.gif .

Setelah selesai semua simpan dlm folder plugin bm-custom-login dan di zip lagi, dan kemudian diinstall di wordpress anda.

Langkah terakhir adalah mengaktifkan plugin tersebut dan melihat hasilnya.

Kali ini kita membahas yang download rapidshare.com dengan pembatas counter tunggu. Sebenernya bukan trik baru sih dan sudah banyak di ulas diblog-blog yang lain.

Untuk yang belum tahu saja ya…

Caranya tidak sulit juga. Hanya dengan menggunakan sript code berikut :

[code] javascript:alert(c=0) [/code]

Pilih alamat file (link download file di rapidshare.com) yang akan di-download, klik link tersebut. Selanjutnya pilih FREE USER.

Disaat counter berjalan, copy kode javascript tersebut dan copy paste saja  ke address-bar / URL bar di browser Anda dan tekan Enter.
Dialog-box dari browser akan tampil (tidak usah khawatir, ini adalah reaksi normal) dan klik Ok.

Perhatikan still-counter rapidshare.com … berhasil khan??
